What causes poverty? What, if anything, can a country do to alleviate it? What, if anything, can an individual do to alleviate it? (Note: Do your best to avoid what Thomas Sowell calls "stage one thinking": think through your proposals and their possible consequences based on what you know about human behavior, motivations, and life.)

Poverty is usually the result of not completing high school. People who are in poverty can barely afford the costs of living (the cost to commute to work and back, housing bills, groceries, taxes, etc). This is because they don't have the ability to get a higher paying job because they either lack the skills/education to work, or they don't have a high school degree. poverty isn't an easy problem to solve, because it can vary in severity from person to person. a potential solution is to give people in poverty the chance to pursue there education again, but I don't think that that would be enough because it doesn't take into account that most people in poverty need to work 24/7 just to get by. So in short; I don't know.

Poverty is many times caused by being stuck into a bad situation or bad luck and getting down in life and not being able to get yourself back up. This can be caused by one's one personal motivation but more times it is caused by an inability to get to resources that can help you or it could be caused by an addiction that is holding someone down. Many times poverty is not only caused by a person but it is many times caused by a bad circumstance that becomes nearly impossible to get out of.

Poverty is cause by making bad financial decisions. Some people like to spend there money on wants instead of needs. People like spending money on going out and eating or shopping when not all of that is really necessary.A country can't control that people make dumb decisions with their money they can try and put a limit on how much people spend in a certain amount of time like cards having a limit. Trying to enforce it will not get to everyone and most people will not care and keep going on with their dumb decisions. An individual can start buyig things that they need instead of what they want if you need new clothes that does not mean that you need designer clothes you can simply go and buy a shirt for 10-20$ at a close by store instead of going to the mall and getting the most expensive shirt they have all because of a brand name on the front.

Poverty can mean many things, the dictionary term is the state of being extremely poor. So poor in what? poor mentally? physically? spiritually? Lets talk about physically. You can become impoverished for many reasons; being lazy, being really stupid, being unlucky, others stealing from you, and/or not having the resources.

Poverty is a sad case that has struck millions around the globe. Poverty can be caused by a number of factors, including the ones listed by Fernando, Nathaniel, and William. A government itself can do nothing about poverty, at least, nothing that will truly and permanently stop it. Simply ask those millions who have consistently received welfare money from the government and still have lived the rest of their lives drowning in poverty and debt. The only possible way to try to fix poverty is through a Christ-centered government. With the Christian values and communal church body, the government would become more just and both spiritual and financial poverty would decrease.
