Unfortunately the Dominion prep school theatre classes need to postpone the performances that were supposed to take place tomorrow. In my class alone I have 4 students who are sick and therefore unable to attend school tomorrow, and I know Mrs. Brembeck is dealing with the same thing in her class. Rather than attempt a performance without these students, we decided it best to move the performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream and Hamlet to Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 12:45 p.m. in the sanctuary.
The Humanities Vault Theatre Arts students have been asked to do a performance for this year's night of class (on Friday, May 1). We are going to perform two scenes from the Julius Caesar play we did last semester. However, no one will have the same role. It will be completely different casting. This is our chance to show our stuff, so let's make it a performance the audience won't forget!
The Humanities Vault drama class has begun a new project. We've moved on from a historical tragedy (which the kids had a blast performing!) to an actual comedy: Taming of the Shrew. This silly play, like the last one we did, takes Shakespeare's story and makes it kid-friendly while still using many of the Bard's original lines. This is the same play that the high school class is performing this year, too! In fact, I'm hoping the Shakespeare class will come watch the Humanities Vault students perform during their dress rehearsal so they can give feedback (that performance will probably be on December 8 or December 10 and you are welcome to attend!).
We are planning to perform this play on Monday, December 15 at 12:30. I will keep you posted if anything changes, but those interested in attending should plan on that date and time. |
