Please join us on Thursday, May 25 at 12:45 p.m. for the Prep School Theatre Arts performances!
Only 5 more rehearsals to go:
Initially Alyssa Brembeck and I had decided to do our class performances on different days because we were not sure we could squeeze both plays in one day (set-up and costumes take awhile!). However, for the sake of parents we've decided to try to make it work. Therefore, the new performance date of Treasure Island will be on Thursday, May 25.
Good news! Jen Fuchs has offered to lend us some costume pieces for the show. She came to class on Thursday and had the kids try on costumes. I sent each of you an email with a picture of your child in costume and a list of things we still need for it. Contact me with questions! Here is the updated list.
Tomorrow the theatre arts class will begin rehearsing our next play: a satirical children's version of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island. We will spend the entire semester focusing on this play, so students will not need to be off-book until we return from spring break. The performance will be on Thursday, May 18 in the sanctuary at Dominion (time TBD, but most likely 1 p.m.). Students were given a script to work on memorizing their lines at home.
We are looking for the following props - please let me know if you can help us out:
Students have been instructed to give any props to me or Mrs. McDermott, or they can leave them in the office. They should not carry them around during the school day. Here is a link to costume descriptions. Note that anything highlighted in green is taken care of. Anyone who is playing a pirate will be asked to put together some sort of pirate ensemble. Something like this, (minus the eye patch): |
