Dear Parents,
For those of you who've not met me, my name is Jacqueline Teachey (yes, that is my real name!) and I am the instructor for the drama portion of the Humanities Vault at Dominion Academy. I am really excited to be working with your child this year! I wanted to tell you a little more about what to expect this year from my class. For the next several weeks we will be reading and rehearsing Shakespeare's historical play Julius Caesar. Although the script is written in kid-friendly language, it incorporates much of the original Shakespearean text. Don't be surprised if you hear your child rehearsing "Et tu, Brute!" in the mirror! Our goal is to experience what it's like to read, rehearse, and perform a play (I will keep you posted on when we might be performing!). After that, we will read, rehearse, and perform Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew (this is the same play that the high schoolers are doing, which will be fun for the young ones!). Next semester, we will focus on incorporating music into telling a story (musical mimes) and how to write a play (and we will write our own!). A few things to note about this class:
Sincerely, Jacqueline Teachey
