Go back through the collection of poems we read along with Lord of the Flies and choose one to react to. What images in this poem stick out to you (What do you see/hear/smell/touch/taste?)? What do you think the poet is trying to say? What idea or a lesson should we learn from this poem?

In the poem 'The Hollow Men' the part at the end where it says, 'This is the way the world ends, not with a bang but a whimper.' I can very clearly see ways that this would happen. There is a kind of color to this line in my mind, it's a dull, hazy maroon color. I hope that makes sense.

I know Olivia got to it first but I was going to do the same one. In the poem, "the hollow men", there is a line that goes: "this is the way the world ends, not with a bang but with a whimper." I love this line because it shows that the world ends in a way that it is not fighting, or a big explosion, it's just a sad defeat.

I am doing the same one as Olivia… In “The Hollow Men” it’s said “this is how the world ends not with a bang but with a whimper”. It connects with the story a lot because at the end of the story it didn’t end in a crazy way it’s like it just ended, it was sad but it was not someone blowing up the island it was them escaping but many people died while on the island.
