Stories are particularly exciting, scary, or funny when something happens that you do not expect (this is called situational irony). Give the name of a story (book, movie, TV show, etc.) where the writer uses situational irony. Why do you think the writer decided to surprise you at that part of the story?

a show called stranger things has situational irony. scary to be exact. I think the writers use this to draw people in. or to throw you off. or Suprise you. or just to be entertaining

A story that uses situational irony is the original Grims fairy tale Cinderella. It uses situational irony in the form one of the stepsisters cutting her toes off, and the other one cutting her heel off so glass slipper would fit and she could marry the prince.

In a book called Story Thieves (this is the one I always talk about) the author uses situational irony to surprise the reader when you think the mystery is solved. The villain is revealed to be someone you didn't think it would be. It also kind of makes you feel stupid.

In one of my favorite short stories, Vermin, you follow a main character that is running away from what appears to be a wrongful execution. It leads you on to believe it is a dystopian society, but at the end, when they finally get him, you find out he was actually guilty of murder.

there was situational irony in star wars when it was revealed how darth vader was luke skywalker's father. i think that situational irony is used to surprise the reader. it is used to make the reader feel dumb because they thought it was so obvious what would happen.

There is a movie called Missing. In Missing the director uses situational irony multiple times. One of the times that they use it is when the girl thinks that she found her parents. This happened multiple times, she finds something out that makes her think she has found her parents and that it’s over but more information rolls out. Comments are closed.
