Watch the following video about apartheid:

Now he can gratify his lusts...Some of us think when we have power, we shall revenge ourselves...and because our desire is corrupt, we are corrupted, and the power has no heart in it.”

Msimangu is speaking of a man who plays on the black people's desire to end equality. The man asks for power and money so he can right the wrongs created by apartheid. After receiving the money, the man shows his true colors as a corrupt man seeking his own power and glory, not his people's. The man now has his power and money, and instead of using it to make other people's lives better, he uses it to gratify his own corrupt desires. This points back to Lord Acton's quote: "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

Msimangu is talking about money and power. He is saying that money now equals power and the more money the more power. He also talks about us thinking we have power but the rich easily overpower us.

Msimangu is talking about how money and power affects people. How all people no matter their color will try to get money and power to take revenge on those who have wronged them but they just become corrupt themselves. I think he is usually correct. If people's only drive to become powerful is to take revenge then they will become corrupt and end up doing wrong themselves. I do however think that there is some times where people gain power and money and do use it for good.

Money and power corrupt people very quickly and easily. Many believe they won't become corrupted but its difficult. They think that when they have the power they won't take advantage they will be perfect but that's almost never how it works. Its hard to be humble when you have power and all your temptations are at your finger tips. I don't think i could be able to be a good person with absolute power but how would I know unless I was in their positions? I also don't really want to find out, I'd rather stay where I am and not seek too much power just to be safe.

I feel like he is saying that when you-have a lot of power history shows that it tends to corrupt people. And I feel like he is addressing this in the text which I found really interesting. Comments are closed.
