1. Fantasy is a genre that is meant for entertainment. I believe that everyone needs entertainment from time to time, so even though the main target audience for the Fantasy genre is kids, I'm sure that there's something that adults can enjoy. 2. It just depends on what Salman was talking about, if he was referring to imaginary games, story's, friends, etc then I think he's wrong. Those imaginary things are specifically thought up to escape reality. But if he is referring to imagining potential solutions to problems, inventions to make life easier, or new ways to use tools, then mabey Salman was on to something.

I believe that the purpose of fantasy stories is to give people a view into a fun world that is not our own. The main purpose of course is entertainment but what fantasy stories do that other things do not is it gives us a story but then does not give us a visual picture so it lets our imagination run wild. Pieces of fantasy that I greatly enjoyed are all of the books from the Riordanverse(Percy Jackson, Kane chronicles, etc.) and a series called blackthorn key, I loved these books because of the exciting storyline and extremely compelling characters.

Fantasy stories have a purpose of entertainment, there is not much that children or adults can gain from these stories since they are not true. I think he means its to make reality look different and more special and people can imagine things as they are in the book. My favorite kind of fantasy is movies, I am a huge fan of the movie ted which is about a talking bear and I kinda look like him but it is very funny and a amazing movie.

Fantasy stories can have deeper meanings and ideas behind them as well as for entertainment. Anyone can enjoy them, adults and kids. There are a lot of fantasy books that are mature and have deeper meanings. For example many of C.S. Lewis's books like The Chronicles of Narnia and the screw tape letters. Very deep and meaningful books not just for children. I enjoy The Hobbit a lot because its a very calm book. It seems like it just calms me down and its very nicely written.

Fiction is absolutely for adults and not just for kids. The first thing that comes to mind is The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. The story is written in a "childish" fashion, and is set in a FANTASY world. However, the story is FULL of theological allegories. I still use my imagination ALL THE TIME. I don't care if I'm "too old for it," because nobody really ever is. I personally enjoy the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit as fantasy novels. They were both written by J.R.R. Tolkien, who was a good friend of C.S. Lewis. I like these stories because they bring back memories of games that my cousins and I used to play with swords. I also love the intricacies of the entire world that Tolkien creates. He even made entire languages for his many different races and an intricate backstory. His diction and style are also very interesting, as he defied traditional spelling of words like "dwarfs" and "dwarfish" to "dwarves" and "dwarvish."
