I'd like to continue the discussion we began in class today: Review the short video. Why is the stuff you learn in school important beyond the classroom and "getting good grades so I can get into a good college..."?
(Note: A transcript of the video is here, in case you prefer to read instead of watch it.)

I don't really think you NEED good grades to get a good job anymore. being smart doesn't necessarily mean you have a good education. a lot of rich and successful people today dropped out of high school. they didn't need advanced education, they just needed financial literacy, and most schools don't teach that anymore. So no, education might be important, but I don't think it's necessary to be successful.

I am in school to prove that I can, because not a lot of people in my biological family graduated from high school. that is the only reason I go to school. plus the jobs that I want to work offer more money to people who have a high school diploma or GED.

The stuff that you learn in school is important outside of the classroom because it tests and exercises your mind, and keeps you thinking. It helps increase your reading comprehension. I also would say that it is important to get into a good college though, getting into a good college is very important in my family and I have grown up to strive for it my whole life. One of my biggest aspirations is to make it into a good college.

Learning stuff helps us understand the world around us. It helps us learn different perspectives by showing us what it might be like in another person's shoes. Such as "To Kill A Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. It shows us a unique perspective of a kid in the 1933–1935 time period. It shows thoughts and feelings of someone who lived a while ago. Books can also communicate lessons such as the short story "Thank You Ma'am" by Langston Hughes. It shows compassion and kindness can make a big difference in people's lives. Stories can help shape and grow the mind through thoughts ideas and perspectives.

I think you need education to help you through out your life. You will need it everywhere you go at a store you will need math for prices, you will need health if your at the hospital. A lot of people hope to play sports and its a good dream but it is a very small chance of succeeding even for the lowest level you will also need to go to high school if you want to go to college and need to graduate. For some jobs you need to graduate from high school and a degree in certain things.

I feel like getting good grades is good but also a lot of what we learn will help us later in life for a lot of things like in a job or just life like how the school has taught me is how to be organized and keep up on my work.

The things I have learned (and are learning) are important to me because I want to have the job God wants me to have. Also I love to understand Gad's creation. And I think it's really awesome to see how everything he made works together. Comments are closed.
