This is a controversial question, but I think you all are mature enough to have an intelligent discussion about it. It is one of the central questions I’d like to focus on for this novel: Is it possible for one culture or society to be better than another? To answer this you must explain what you mean by “better.”
(Please be aware that I may comment as a “devil's advocate.” My goal is not to argue my personal opinion but to get you to think and develop your thoughts about this ultimate issue.)

I feel like in 2024 there there are a lot of different societies that are a lot better then the one we live in. Now I feel this way because the society I live in and even generation I grow up in is the worst generation people say I say this because are society is weak compared to China or Russia and that's because they don't have to really worry about this whole LGBTQ thing now I'm not trying to be rue in any way or disrespectful I am simply just giving my reason why we are weak. Another reason is that people get sad to easily and what I mean by this is that people take stuff to serious and they get butt hurt over a simple and funny joke.

The standard for "better" is possibly more controversial than this question, and certainly harder to answer due to the many factors that go into it. One factor that can express this is the country's willingness to change and adapt to their circumstances, even if it meant losing an old way of life. Countries like this are currently the strongest countries in the world. Take Britain and China, for example, the British have constantly had to adapt to changing circumstances, such as the changing of warfare tactics during WW2. The British could quickly adapt to these and are today a powerful and influential nation. The Chinese believed that they were the center of the world, and refused to accept that any outside influence could be better than what they could make. This made them vulnerable with new military technologies, and China was invaded and conquered numerous times by more powerful and adaptable nations.

I agree with what Elijah said about the concept of "better" also being very controversial. Say better means more advanced in culture; in that case case than I would say that a culture or society can better another one. However if we take the concept of "better" as the happiness of it's people then I would say that this does not usually happen because every time a new society comes into another one they usually end up bringing great trouble and sorrow to many of the already present inhabitants. Personally however, I do think that it is possible for society's to better one another, because different people have different strengths and weaknesses and if you combine these a truly great thing can be accomplished. It is the same way on a sports team. Take basketball a forward can not usually dribble or shoot but they bring height to the team and a point guard brings the ball handling. God made humanity to work together and not to stay separate so though it is much more difficult in this fallen world, yes I do think that societies can better one another.

I believe that ''better" with societies means better with technology, and supplies/resources. Yes, some societies are better then others in different ways with resources like Africa they will definitley be one of the lowest and then there is America which will be one of the top. They're are many different ways for societies to be ''better" but yes i do believe that societies can be better then others. It all depends on the way that you see it.

Better can have many different meanings better how? Better at what? Better at being bad? It’s a very general word and can mean many different things. So let’s go with being better at working together, functioning as a society and a country. I believe one society could be better at those things than another. It always depends who’s involved, who’s in charge, and what kind of culture/society it is.

I believe one culture or society can't be better than another, but some are better than others at different things. For example, China is good at having a deep respect for hierarchy, a strong sense of family, and a preference for harmony over conflict. African culture and societies are good at art and ceremonies. African culture is also good at holding old traditions. American culture is capable of doing projects independently, but this can be a drawback. Because if you do not work together, you may not be able to accomplish as much. All cultures or societies have different abilities.

Kinda. Certain aspects of culture have effects on the people that are a part of it. so hypothetically if we were able to combine the right aspects of different cultures, we could end up with a society that is almost perfect. But I feel like it would have to come together in just the right way to last long. Comments are closed.
