This semester we will focus on one play: a farcical version of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (adapted by Brendan P. Kelso).
To start off spring semester, we are going to watch a film version of the original Pride and Prejudice. Since only a few students are familiar with the novel, this is a quick way to introduce everyone to the original story line so the whole cast understands the farcical aspect of the production. Beginning tomorrow (1/17) we will watch sections of the 2005 film adaptation directed by Joe Wright, which is rated PG. You can find more information about the content and age-appropriateness of this film on the Common Sense Media website. If you have any objections to watching this movie in class, please let me know and I will come up with an alternative assignment to complete during the time we are watching the film. This Pride and Prejudice script is silly and funny - it will be a lot of fun to work on this semester! |
