Your final assignment for the semester is to:
Your project is due May 26, so you have over a month to work on it. Can't wait to see your creativity on screen! Your first assignment is to watch one of the musicals on the list and then choose one of the projects to complete! Here are the details of the assignment - read it carefully!
Your project is due April 23, so you have almost exactly one month to work on it. Awesome, Wonderful, Talented Drama Students Whom I Miss So Much Already:
It breaks my heart to tell you that, short of a miracle, we will not be able to perform our farcical version of The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet this spring. This makes me so sad for you and for me. I would like to thank you for all the work you did 3rd quarter - you guys are great! I just don't see any way we will be able to make it happen, even if we do return to school in May. It is possible that we will do this play in the fall, but classes will likely be organized differently so I don't know exactly how that will work out. I am very sorry to disappoint you this way. However, do not despair! An actor must perfect his/her craft, even if it means performing for a virtual audience! Therefore, drama class will continue via Google Classroom. I have a couple projects I am working on for you guys to do in the comfort of your own living rooms (and maybe with family, should you so choose...). I will post these projects here as well as in Google Classroom. Siblings may work together if you wish. Both projects will involve making videos. To turn in your projects, film and then upload your video to a cloud (Dropbox, Onebox, iCloud, Google Photos, etc.), then send me the link, or upload it to Google Classroom (I have not used this site much so I am still learning - please be patient with me!). Whatever works best for you in getting your work to me is fine. Your videos will not be posted publicly, but in a private folder for your fellow classmates to view. **A NOTE TO PARENTS: The first project involves choosing a movie to view off of a list that I created. There is a note for you at the bottom of the assignment that I will reiterate here: The list of movies contains musicals that I have deemed appropriate for my students to watch. However, you know your child best, and therefore I ask you to research or screen the movie first if it’s one you are not familiar with. A helpful website is Focus on the Family’s Plugged-In or Common Sense Media. STUDENTS: Stay tuned! And as always, if you have any questions please contact me. Sincerely, Mrs. Teachey Click here to watch this video. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: Students: Before I send emails that explain the nitty gritty of how my virtual literature and drama classes will go, I wanted to say something more personal about how to help yourself stay sane during these uncertain and crazy times:
There’s a verse I’ve had in my head since this all started, and it’s when Jesus tells his disciples in John 16:33, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have trouble. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” I’ll be praying for you all and your families as you navigate this. And remember I'm here to help! May the Lord bless you and your family. Sincerely, Mrs. Teachey |
